As the year comes near its end, and we reach the season to reflect on what the year has brought us, I wanted to take the time to give thanks. It’s been about 3 months that The Shiny Dollar has been live, and I couldn’t be more thankful for every person that has taken the time to read my posts. There are a lot of different communities and view within our financial community, so let’s take a moment to be financially thankful.
Being Financially Thankful
Whether you are a net worth junkie like me, an investor, a Ramsey follower with gazelle speed, a minimalist, etc., there is something we have that not everyone else does; determination. I’ve been in the financial world for a long time, and have realized that most people wait until they are in their mid-forties to start planning their retirement.
Most of us here didn’t!
I’ve interacted with a lot of folk in the community, and although we might not agree on the best way to reach financial freedom, we are still traveling the same beautiful gold-paved road! We are aware of what we need to do to reach our dream early retirement!
Let’s Be Thankful!
Let’s be thankful that one way or another, we decided to go off the beaten spending path. Thankful that we might have some people who don’t really understand the journey we are on, but there’s a whole community out there willing to support you, and encourage you to move forward.
It’s Not About The Money
If there is one truth we can all agree on, is that it’s not about being rich. It’s about freedom! The freedom to travel the world. Freedom to pursue whatever job or hobby you want to without worrying about how much it pays. The freedom to spend more time with your loved ones before our time here is up.
So be financially thankful this Thanksgiving! But then put the financial thoughts aside for a day, and enjoy this time with your loved ones. Picture yourself financially free, if only for a few hours, and enjoy a day surrounded by those you love! Tomorrow we can all adjust our budgets and keep moving on our journey, but we all deserve a day with nothing except the love from our families in mind!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving from The Shiny Dollar!
